napa roadtrip

it was independence day. a long weekend holiday. and our friend zhang hua came over for work so the three of us headed down to napa for a roadtrip.

it was a long long drive up that took about 2+ hours (there was a terrible jam - apparently a lot of people had the same itinerary). looking at the list of hundreds of vineyards around, we settled on visiting peju province vineyard for a round of wine-tasting.

of course i had to sit out, but i did steal small sips now and then for the kick of it. :P but WL was telling me the wine was really very distinct and sharp. they also had this provence which is a mix of red and white which tastes really light, fresh and easy to drink. those kind just for sitting in your garden and just watching time pass by. too bad for me... :( but then again, i was never a wine connoisseur to begin with so not much loss. :P

so after buying a bottle of wine, we headed out to see the old faithful geyser of california. weird. i always thought old faithful was at yellowstone... but after reading the pamphlet, i learnt there's 3 old faithfuls in the world?! the interval between it's outburst was 10-20 mins so we managed to catch a few of it's "eruptions". it's not as tall and powerful as the one we saw in rotorua NZ, but it's still a wonder to see it erupt each and everytime.

but the highlight of our trip had to be something that we would NEVER be able to do in singapore. we bought fireworks! they were just selling it along the roadside and we just had to get some! bought 3 small ones hoping to light it that same day... but alas, by the time we reached home, we were too concuss to do anything so it'll have to wait for the next day. can't wait!
